He didn't fare that well last year so there was no need to do this in public. Fans shouldn't need a pep talk - only the players.

When oh when will Charlie Tuna learn to keep his freaking mouth shut and just concentrate on his own team?

I agree MrNCAA, someone needs to bring Fat Charlie back down to earth. He needs to worry about winning a bowl game, or better yet beating Air Force or Navy or maybe improving on one of the worst rushing offenses I have ever seen at the D1 level. I had alot of repect for CW when he was with NE but his ego has become as bloated as his waistline, he really needs to worry about his own program who has not won a bowl game in over a decade before he calls out UM. |

1. Eh
2. He's probably accurate. (if ND beat M in 08) *** and in my opinion the excuses will be valid*** If he's your guy, you love him ... if he's not you hate em. Seems to reckon back to a beloved Michigan man who was under .500 vs. the Irish ... "To Hell With Notre Dame" Edit: By the way in my opinion Big Chaz only has a few more years to get it done... until then, unless he's not hurting anyone ... non-ND fans are not going to like him regardless of what he says or does.

Charlie is trying to make a statement game out of UM. Would be a very good time to make a statement. If ND doesn't win that game it'll be another tough season. I'm just glad that CW is enthused enough about Irish to make such a quote. |

I think he just did us Michigan fan's a huge favor. Nothin like a little extra motivation.
And for what these Coaches are paid, there should be NO excuses. |

If either team needs "extra motivation" or "bulletin board" material for this one ... that's pretty sad.

Searn, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Bo's "to hell with Notre Dame" come long after he was done coaching UM and had gone 234-65-8 as
a head coach and had won 13 Big 10 titles. CW is shooting off at the mouth after getting embarrassed by UM two years in a row and a very mediocre 22-15 record
as a head coach with no bowl victories. CW earned my respect at NE but he is starting to look more and more like a guy who was at the right place at the right
time and rode the coat tails of one of the greatest head coaches (Belichick) and QB's (Brady) of all time to become the head coach at one of the greatest
college football programs in the country.

You are right on Bo ... at the time of comment he did have more room to talk. My point was a lot of Michigan people loved him for that comment because it was "their guy" making a similar comment to what CW made. The jury is still out on CW as a head coach .... we know he is a quality NFL assistant ... a great recruiter and I believe ND is his dream job and if given
the chance will retire in South Bend.... Whether he is a great or even good head coach will be seen. All I expect is making a Bowl in 2008, but 2009 and
beyond the expectations will be high.

Searn wrote: UofM had a disappointing season last year......... but let's face it, last year was pretty sad for the Irish. So basically anything above sad will be an improvement them. Charlie just may have proved he was a bit overrated as a coach last season. This season I expect him to back up last season's statement. |
